It's been such a long time since I have written a blog, I have been so busy! But I think this is an important message to get across...
Loads of my clients have friends and family. I often hear people saying, that all they need is a good coffee with a friend to help them through life’s tough times, why would they need to see a counsellor?
But there is a difference,
Maybe your problem is your family. Family and relationship issues can totally restrict the ability to turn to those closest.
Maybe you don’t want to burden those you love with your worries. Sharing problems can trigger worry in others, which can stop people from talking; leaving you to carry on alone.
Trust issues might prevent you from knowing what to share and who to share it with, safely.
Talking to a counsellor changes all that.
Counsellors are never as close as friends and family. They are non-judgemental. They don’t ‘take on’ their clients problems as their own. They allow you to say anything, about anyone within a safe and confidential space.
